Counterfeit VS Knockoffs VS Pirate

Let'm make some order and clarification on the different wording used to classify fake goods.

Counterfeit: A counterfeit good pretends to be the real thing. They bear designer brand's label or signature symbol - such as the interlocking C's on an authentic Chanel handbag or the apple logo of an authentic Apple product.

Knockoff: Knockoffs imitate the overall look of designer originals, but do not use the words or symbols of a designer brand label to deceive consumers. Much of the legitimate fashion industry consists of knockoffs of designer styles.

Pirate: Pirated goods are movies, music, books or other copyrighted works that have been reproduced without permission from the company, composer or author that owns the copyright. Pirated products cost legitimate businesses billions in lost profits and drive up prices.
